PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT with VOLUNTEER YUKON

Are you looking to acquire new knowledge and develop new skills? Are you looking for stimulating and enjoyable learning experiences? Volunteer Yukon can provide you with the following:

I- Public Workshops

Volunteer Yukon (VY) believes that the key to building a strong Yukon with a strong volunteer spirit lies in developing the skills and knowledge of the people who work and volunteer with non-profit organizations every day.

Board members, staff, and volunteers can access a wide variety of resources and training on an on-going basis.

Our 2-hr public workshops explore topics relevant to the effective functioning of non-profit boards and organizations in the Yukon. They are open to everyone.

Commonly requested topics include: Board Roles & Responsibilities, Strategic Planning, Policy Development, Risk Management, Financial Management, Effective Meetings . . . and more!

All of our public workshops are provided by volunteer trainers.

For more information on our upcoming workshops:

Nota bene: Volunteer Yukon is looking to purchase of a comprehensive webinar system, in order to be able to provide public training at low cost to NGO personnel based anywhere in Yukon.

II- Custom Workshops The purpose of the NGO Training Fund (NGOtf) is to improve the overall functioning and efficacy of Yukon NGOs, enhancing their long-term sustainability.

Volunteer Yukon, through NGOtf, provides training to NGOs that helps build their organizational capacity. (Professional development—i.e., training for individual staff members that would normally be covered by an NGO’s annual budget—is not covered by this fund.)

NGOtf provides a maximum of $5,000 per project.

Training projects can include, but are not limited to, the following subjects: HR Management & Succession Planning, Strategic Planning, Volunteer Management, Financial Management, Information Management, Communications/Marketing… and more!

For more information about NGOtf or to find out when the next Call for Applications will occur.

Are you looking for a consultant to provide training? Volunteer Yukon connects Yukon consultants with Yukon non-profit organizations: we maintain a directory of individuals & companies that have expressed interest in assisting non-profit organizations. Some of these consultants offer discounts to NGOs. Click to view consultants’ areas of specialization

Nota bene: The NGO training fund is available to non-profit organizations based in Whitehorse and in the rural communities.

III- Workshop Resources

A- Workshop Handouts/Folders
Volunteer Yukon keeps printed copies and/or electronic copies of each workshop’s training materials (PowerPoint presentation, information sheets, etc.).

Click to access the podcasts (***Check out our three new podcasts: SMART Partnership, Volunteer Recruitment & Retention, and Privacy & Protection Rules for Non-Profit Organizations.)
